Why You Might Want to Cut Back on Sugar if You’re are Depressed

This large new study suggests that something as simple as sugar may be behind your depression.

This massive study included 18,439 people who provided dietary information and were assessed for depression.

It found that dietary sugar was significantly associated with depression. The risk of depression went up by 28% for every 110g a day increase in sugar. The people with the highest level of sugar in their diet were a significant 33% more likely to be depressed than the people with the lowest level.

This study of American adults suggests a novel way of preventing depression: eat less sugar.
