A large new study adds compelling evidence to the hope that the herb fenugreek can benefit diabetics.
This new meta-analysis included 12 controlled studies of fenugreek in 1718 people with type 2 diabetes.
11 of those studies, including 876 people, looked at fasting blood sugar. They found that fenugreek significantly reduces levels of fasting blood sugar. 4 studies of 388 people that reported on blood sugar levels after eating found significant reduction with fenugreek.
Importantly, 7 studies that included 454 type 2 diabetics looked at HbA1c. HbA1c is the most important marker of long term blood sugar and diabetes control. The pooled studies showed that fenugreek significantly reduced HbA1c.
As an important bonus, none of the 12 studies reported any side effects with fenugreek.
This updated meta-analysis shows that fenugreek can safely and effectively benefit people with type 2 diabetes.
